Flaminkie Report: Rimmel Apocalips

  

I got Rimmel Apocalips on a whim. I've seen so many beauty gurus raving about this on Youtube, so when I found this lipstick at my local Shoppers Drug Mart, I was like... "There is no way I am not getting my hands on this product!!" Besides, this was on sale and it was only $6.99... So, why not right?

Apparently, Apocalips is called "Show Off" in the States. It's such a shame, because Apocalips sounds so much better and it's called the same way in the UK.

So, I got the shade "Aurora," because I've never seen someone talking about this particular color. Also, the color I wanted was sold out...(I might go back to the store and get it sometime soon though!)

I would describe this color as bright neon pink, which I normally don't go for, yet it was appealing to me for some reason. However, I realized that this is a bit of an intimidating shade (to me), so I lightly wiped it off after applying it to my lips so that the color fades. After doing this, it looked fine. Anyway, it's well pigmented, opaque, not super moisturizing, yet not drying your lips out. In my opinion, this is quite a long lasting lipstick as well. It's lip lacquer- literally it's like putting paint on your lips (you definitely need a mirror to apply this or you will look like a clown).

Overall, I am not a huge fan of this product in the end.. maybe because of its color? I might like a different shade? I don't know.

Movie Night

Feeling like chilling out for our Friday but in a more certain way,  my husband and I decided to go see a movie. Since my husband got home a bit late for the one we were supposed to watch, we picked the latest showing instead and went for a walk around Coal Harbor.

It was a perfect evening. I pretty much enjoyed taking pictures at Coal Harbor. I felt like time passed really slowly by seeing the sunset reflecting on the ocean and people relaxing on benches. I don't know, it was absolutely ordinary, but somehow made me calm and revived.

The movie we watched was "Pacific Rim." I'm not going to talk about the movie on and on, but it was a cool, exciting, and breathtaking (at least to me) movie. I think it's worth watching, especially in the theater, because of its more powerful impact with striking pictures and sounds.

Anyway, we had a great evening! I think I should enjoy the summer more before Vancouver becomes dark grey, and raining...

Contemplation Thursday: My Little List of Resolutions

So, I thought it's time to set a few goals just to make myself more proactive. I am a kind of person who procrastinates with everything with some made-up reasons. I've always been too lazy to get out of my comfort zone, due to the fact that I am like a sloth (okay, I exaggerate a little bit). I remember that someone said "writing things down, like setting your short-term goals, helps you improve your life," so here I am. Also, putting the whole list I want to try on my blog definitely will help me achieve my goals in a faster and more practical way, because I can officially commit to myself and anyone else that happens to visit my blog, making me feel that "I will do it and I can do it!"

Okay, let's just do it! Here is the list:

1. Read one book each month:

This is going to be challenging for me, because I'm a super slow reader and I still have a tons of words and phrases I haven't learned yet since I'm still learning English. I've already got a reading list and I will start with a fiction novel.

2. Work out more:

I do have a gym membership card which is definitely NOT inexpensive and not having being used quite often. Besides, I've been munching on chocolate and ice cream every day (seriously, this is not an exaggeration). Even if I don't have time to go to the gym for some reason, I can still do "radio gymnastic exercise" which every Japanese person knows by heart (I think I will talk about this exercise some other time).

3. Stay on my budget:

I would say I go over my budget every month. I need to break the habit of impulse-shopping. I will keep track of what I have bought and will buy. I don't know if it'll work, but let's see how it goes!

I think I better keep it to three things because at least to me, the more stuff you have to do, the more likely you become tired of it and give up. So, I will keep doing these three things as my daily routine goals. We'll see if I can make it!!

Parcel from Japan

My mom and sister sent us goodies from Japan. They occasionally send us some food, clothes, or even stationary too. I always love the anticipation of getting a box from family. I mean, since my mom and sister can never keep a secret from me (I think they just CANNOT help telling me that they will send me something beforehand). I always know I will get something from them. Anyway, this time, my husband and I got some clothes (they are all for the Fall), food, and some random things. I'm literally excited about all of them!! Especially with stripy tops and mint colored shorts.

Also, there are some "rice seasonings" which you can mix with rice and make some rice balls (there are different flavors, like salmon and umeboshi (pickled plum)). On the left of the bottom picture, there is a small green frying pan, which is specifically for making Japanese egg rolls, and I'd been wanting this for so long. My sister was kind enough to remember that and she just sneaked this cutie in the box as well. 

I'm looking forward to getting the next parcel the they probably will send me in a few months.

My First Polyvore

Today is my maiden Polyvore day! Yay!! I finally did it!!! I'd been just a viewer of Polyvore for quite a few years and it struck me that I should share my favorite fashion and things I love, cuz why not? Starting new things always makes me super excited <3

Lemon Obsession & Weekend

Luckily, my husband and I have the same tongue-I like what he likes and he eats what I eat. It could be Thai, Japanese, Middle eastern food, but I won't talk about any of them today. Today, I'd like to advocate how tasty lemons are (thinking about lemons makes my mouth water...) Anyway, currently and officially, we are obsessed with lemons, and since we love them so much, I made "Honey lemon". Literally, this contains just honey and lemon. You just cut lemons thinly and layer them with honey and keep them in a container for 3 days in the fridge . How easy is that? I like having honey lemon with hot water (you can eat a lemon slice as well). Also, you can make honey lemon cup cakes or cookies which are incredibly tasty!

Like everyone else, I love spending my weekend just relaxing. Wake up whenever I feel like it and have some cup of tea, maybe or definitely while browsing beauty blogs or Youtube videos (cuz my body automatically just reaches for my laptop and opens the tabs before I'm fully awake). After having a late breakfast, there are always some discussions with my husband about how to spend the weekend. Most likely, if we don't have any ideas, we just go to the beach-that is our thing. Just strolling by the beach, soaking in the sun, and smelling the sea breeze... it makes us feel so refreshed and rejuvenated! Yay!!

Weekend Outfit & Cat Dress

My husband and I usually spend our weekends at a cafe, just reading or chatting. Though, I was in the mood of strolling and discovering new shops, so I convinced my husband to go for a short-little-walk. To go with my white T-shirt which actually has a white-lined tiger print on it, I chose rose printed pants. Also, I wanted to give this look a little bit of accent, so I picked neon yellow chain earrings and a leather clutch bag.

This is no secret that I am an impulsive shopper, so today when this quirky dress caught my eye for some reason, I felt like I needed to get it NOW. I don't know why, because I'm not a skirt kind of girl nor a cat lover, but I instantly fell in love with this!! Maybe there is something about this cat's eyes that made me not think about my budget of this month (yes, and those eyes look a bit scary). This is a kind of dress that you love or hate, but I think it's good to go for new type of clothes you've never tried. I'm thinking of wearing this with sneakers and little accessories since it has a huge statement (CAT) in front as well as its back.

Half of the dress is jersey material (super comfy!) and the other half is chiffon.
